n December 2025 a fire started on the foreshore. Luckily, it was contained before it spread. But luck is not a safety strategy. If that fire had not been contained, the consequences could have been catastrophic—destroying foreshore vegetation, threatening nearby homes, endangering lives, and devastating wildlife habitats. This incident should have been a wake-up call.

That simple “good morning” left such an impact on me that I’ve decided—I’m back to greeting everyone on the beach. Some people will look surprised, maybe even a little startled, as if they’ve just seen an alien. That’s fine. Keep smiling and say it to the next person. Because here’s the thing: connection matters.
